Methodology
The Post Apocalyptic publishes real, verifiable news that can give early context in an emergency. We do not make predictions or spread theories.
Verification status
- Confirmed
- The organisation, company or authority directly responsible has publicly confirmed the fact. Requires at least one official or primary source.
- Corroborated
- At least two mutually independent sources agree on the facts, but the responsible source has not yet confirmed them.
- Developing
- First details published by an identifiable source. The facts may change and the story will be updated.
Certainty level
- High
- The core facts are documented and the sources do not disagree.
- Medium
- The core facts are supported, but details or figures are still to be confirmed.
- Low
- Partial or early information; it may change substantially.
Principles
- Each story stands on its own facts and links to its sources.
- We do not suggest connections between incidents unless they are demonstrated and backed by sources.
- We do not present an accumulation of incidents as evidence of a trend.
- If the evidence is insufficient or sources disagree, the story is not published automatically: a person reviews it.
- Every publication records who or what approved it.
Corrections and retractions
Corrections are flagged in the story itself, with a date and an explanation. If a story turns out to be wrong in substance, we retract it and publicly record why.
Languages and translations
We publish news in Spanish and English. Each story is written in one original language and machine-translated into the other. Translations are labelled as such and link to the original. If a machine translation changes any figure compared with the original, it is not published: we show the original until the newsroom reviews it.
