Corrections

How we correct mistakes, and a public record of every correction and retraction.

Policy

• Correction: if a story contains an error, we fix it and add a visible note with the date and what changed.
• Update: when there is new information, we add it and change the last-updated date.
• Typo: changes that do not alter the meaning (a spelling mistake) are kept in our internal history.
• Retraction: if a story turns out to be wrong in substance, we retract it. Its page stays up and explains why.
• If you find an error, write to us via contact, naming the story and, if possible, the source that shows it.
